And following a Wilder train of thought . . .

My other great passion aside from Hitch, is Billy Wilder. I was able to spend some considerable time during the making of the Taschen book on Some Like it Hot with Mr Wilder. I find myself thinking of Wilder, the imnpact he made on me during the interviews for the Taschen book and the lasting effect so many of his films have. His art is often an invisible one--without the stylish visual ticks of a Hitchcock.

This documentary captures a much younger Wilder (and Izzy Diamond) discussing the most important art of our times, cinema.

It was after Wilder's death (is it too much information to let you know that I sat sobbing in my car when I heard the news that he had died and could hardly find the words when press called for comment) and on a very particular moment that I jumped with eyes wide shut into a personal nightmare only now drawing to an end.
