We can talk about this, write about it, but if you haven't seen Alfred Hitchcock's third film. The Lodger, then you haven't seen what most Hitchcock writers and fans think of as the first real Hitchcock film. I'm embedding an excellent tinted and scored print of The Lodger here for you to watch (or download, follow the link back to internet archive). Linked to this page (click the blog headline) is a good essay over at cinemademerde.
This is the third part of a nine part series on the Hitchcock 9, the nine Hitchcock silent films that British Film Institute are in the process of restoring. This is not cheap, so the BFI could use your help. Follow the Hitchcock 9 links on this site for more information about donating to this very worthy effort.
