Seattle jumps in late summer with some special Hitchcock love. Rebecca is seldom summer fare (though, would be good on a beach screen with a big bonfire) but, here it is opening the Seattle Landmark's Metro Classic's season, this year nine week's of movies with the person's name in the title.
Also in Seattle, Rear Window is screening at the Grand Illusion Cinema for two nights as part of a gala fundraiser. The Grand Illusion is Seattle's oldest continuously running movie theater (I hope they mean that in years and not that DF Wallace's Infinite Jest has been secretly running there). I've not been to Seattle since I was a kid, but I will say this for the Grand Illusion--they have designed a terrific poster for the event:

The Grand Illusion Cinema holds its annual fundraiser Saturday with two gala screenings of another Hitchcock gem, "Rear Window," showing in 35 mm at 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. A reception with hors d'oeuvres, drinks, a raffle and a silent auction will precede each screening, with doors opening at 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. respectively. Tickets are $25 (includes one drink) and are available at the Grand Illusion box office (1403 N.E. 50th St., Seattle), online atwww.grandillusioncinema.org, or through Scarecrow Video (5030 Roosevelt Way N.E., Seattle; 206-524-8554).
