Summer of Hitch Love: Austin's Paramount Shows Real Hitch Love

There are two more Hitchcock films in the Paramount Theater's 36th Summer Classics Series.  Last weekend, the Art Deco theater screened Rear Window and To Catch a Thief.  Still to come are Psycho (Aug. 6th and 7th) and Vertigo (in 70mm, Aug. 22nd and 23rd).

The Vertigo screening has special significance for me.  Back in 1984 when Universal re-released the Hitchcock five, I drove up from San Antonio, where I was attending Trinity University, to see Vertigo a few weeks before the film was to be released in San Antonio.  Obviously, the experience left some impact and was the beginning a lifetime relationship with an extraordinary work of art.  I am currently visiting family in the Austin area--should I be here Aug. 22nd, there's no question I will be at the Vertigo screenings.
