Hot, Hot Texas--
As much as I love Vertigo, this heat doesn't put me in mind of Vertigo, but Psycho. Especially, the opening sequence in Phoenix, AZ in December. The weather's hot--and it's the focus of the conversation in the real estate office where Marion Crane works. The heat is emphasized with the desert painting behind her--of course, this serves two purposes. It underscores the obvious heat, but it also foreshadows the location to come: the cop tapping on her windshield somewhere in the desert between Phoenix and Bakersfield, CA.
This extraordinary, hottest summer in Texas' history that has paired with Texas' record drought have been hard on homes, machines and certainly people. What the state needs is what ends up driving into--a good rain storm and shower!
Psycho has been remade, reworked, examined and rexamined--but I'm willing to bet that you've not seen this Star Wars version of the famed shower sequence--may the (shower) force be with you!
I think the next scene's dialogue goes something like, "Blood,blood--Darth, oh Darth!"
